The Jonah Group completes first phase of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) website redevelopment and marketing strategy
Toronto, Ontario, February 12, 2009 - Jonah Group has completed the first phase of a website redevelopment and marketing strategy project for the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). TRCA selected Jonah Group to develop a web strategy that helps establish their corporate identity and provide an efficient method of delivering current, factual, and official information.
The new website will serve as an accessible gateway to other web services offered by TRCA and its partners and inform the general public about local environmental conservation.
The first phase of the project involved full website graphical design and information architecture. A robust open source Java based content management system was selected as the development platform because of its extensive permission-based content management capabilities.
TRCA is a provincial/municipal partnership established in 1957, under the Conservation Authorities Act, to manage the renewable natural resources of the region’s watersheds. Since then it has developed a strong history in watershed management and leadership in applying sustainability practices. Today, it owns more than 40,000 acres of land in the greater Toronto region, employs more than 400 full time employees and coordinates more than 2,000 volunteers each year. With decades of practical experience in protecting our environment, educating young people, and engaging communities, TRCA works with businesses, governments, and individuals to build a greener, cleaner healthier place to live.
Following the success of Phase 1 development on the TRCA website project, The Jonah Group continues to work together with TRCA to further define and refine advanced features and functionality. The development of an online donation, event booking system and volunteer community portal, are just a few of the strategic initiatives TRCA plans to launch in the coming months.
