Technical Presentations
Periodically our consultants present technical topics of interest and summaries of their annual training to the rest of the staff and other interested parties at The Jonah Group office. The following are a sample of some of these technical presentations.
- JavaOne 2006 - Report From the Field - Presented by Prasanna Kannan
- The complexity of developing J2EE (renamed to Java EE) applications has become staggering. Java technology vendors have made a concerted effort to reduce the complexity in Java EE 5 using metadata attribute annotations. This presentation outlines Java EE trends showcased at the JavaOne conference in San Francisco, held in May 2006.
- Emerging Web Frameworks - Presented by Andrew Bray
- The emergence of new, open source full stack frameworks has put the pressure on Sun to make Java more productive and easy to use. Understanding how Java became so dominant in the web arena, as well as its current deficiencies, provides insight into what changes will be required to reach a higher level of developer productivity. In addition to addressing these subjects, this presentation provides a brief overview of the much celebrated Ruby On Rails web framework.
- Anchoring and Adjustment in Software Estimation - Presented by Jorge Aranda
- A number of Jonah Group members participated in a study concerning "Anchoring and Adjustment in Software Estimation", an area of research of Jorge Aranda, a graduate student at the University of Toronto. Estimation techniques and the role of human psychology and bias in software estimation are presented.
